Denomination
First Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Montana Baptist Convention, and with the Triangle Baptist Association. However, we are self governing. Each Southern Baptist Church makes its own decisions about staff, budget, and ministry.
Doctorinal Beliefs
We believe that Jesus is God's only Son. We believe that a personal belief and relationship with Jesus is the only way a person is saved. We believe salvation is for anyone who ACCEPTS Jesus as their Savior. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God without error.
Ordinances of the Church
We follow two ordinances of the church: Baptism and The Lord's Supper.
Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior. The believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the priviledges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper.
The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.
